2020:THE END

Phew! That evenly double year is gone and we back to the odds. To all our favor December rushed it out quickly but to be fair to some it was a disappointment.

Well, what can I say my energies last year looked like a receding graph of constant highs and lows? It was one year no one in the world will ever forget, everyone was affected and touched in a way due to the pandemic Covid-19 directly or indirectly. If the first wave didn’t, sure as day the second wave took care of that.

“This corona has come with an energy shift and it’s either you’re feeling it or not...” Makena Njeri (@Wilkings Fadhili's podcast)

We lost, some of us gained and lost and others just lost lost. Some of us in a conducive environment were able to be productive and used the time they never had before to create a new or continue creating, others were forced into a non-conducive and in extreme circumstances toxic environments where thriving was no option.

Mental illness, gender based violence rape and domestic wrangles shoot up, as policemen flexed on the streets flogging and shooting citizens who they should protect. Suicide attempts, job loss, discrimination went on a high especially for the LGBTQ+ folk who on a normal day are already on the receiving end of injustices in this country simply because they’re rendered a non issue by the president.

In short the good became better and the worse became the worst. I personally went through a funk in the beginning there and got a podcast to crawl me out.

As our finances and health was on put on trial our relationships were not left behind, again the good became worse and the worse the worst. I’m no expert but a pandemic is a catalyst. Since it forced everyone home, parents were able to reignite and strengthen their relationships with their kids and versa for good or bad, we stayed home, with or without we stayed and stayed and stayed.

The government kept on insisting it’s upon us, till it became a meaningless song. Waived taxes curfews citizens lockdown counties cancelled gatherings forcing us more indoors if it were not a pandemic it would have been the best most successful tool the government would use to control its citizens and stir them in any direction they choose. As Covid was globally felt, it kicked us to survival mode, our most venerable cum strongest state.

Peace and blessings to those who survived to the New Year!!We have a lot to be thankful for!
