10 THINGS WE DIDN’T KNOW ABOUT THE ROYAL WEDDING

"Two people fell in love and we showed up." the Most Reverend Bruce Curry , the 27th Presiding Bishop and Primate of The Episcopal Church commented in his sermon, this weekend on the 19th of May 2018, when millions of people around the world showed up and tuned in to witness the real life fairy-tale wedding at the St. Georges Chapel in Windsor.

The actor Meghan Markle, the Californian born actress known for her paralegal role in the US cable series Suits tired the knot with Princess Diana's youngest son- Prince Harry after less than two years together. “The problem with Prince Harry is if he falls, he falls hard. He goes in big time,” said a close source of the family to E! News in 2016, when she defended her on sexism and racism comments online.

Here is a list of 10 things we probably did not know about the #RoyalWedding-the best wedding of the year/century yet:

1. The Queen Elizabeth Ⅱ lent Meghan Markle the following items;

-The Welsh Gold (Royal tradition) that made the newly wedded couple rings done by Cleave and Company.

-Queen Mary's 1932 diamond bandeau tiara that held The Duchess of Sussex's five foot long veil in place.

-The 1950 Phantom Ⅳ Rolls Royce that Meghan and her mum Doria Ragland rode into St. Georges's Chapel.



2. The Prince Brothers wore the frock coat uniform of the Blues and Royals -permitted by Her Majesty the Queen.


3. Meghan Markle's custom made couture gown was made by the British designer Clare Waight Keller , the artistic director of the historic French Fashion House Givenchy who worked round the clock to make the bride's wish come true. Her veil was hand crafted embroidery of flowers representing the 53 Commonwealth countries with Kenya’s flower being the Tropical Orchid. Yes, we did personally participate in her Cinderella story!



4. 16 may just have been the magic number on this Royal day with Prince Harry and Ms Markle wedding being the 16th Royal wedding held at Windsor Castle which is the oldest and the largest occupied castle in the world. The Rolls Royce rode by Meghan and her mum was one of the only 16 built of its kind.

5. The walk from the Chapel's door to the aisle of Quire was a total of 250 feet (76m) away.

6. The Duchess of Sussex paid tribute to Diana in a number of ways in her wedding ceremony one being selecting the song 'Guide me, O thy great redeemer' that was sung at Diana's funeral and Kate’s wedding too, wearing Diana’s ring aquamarine diamond-cut at the wedding reception given to her by her Prince, Forget-me-nots flowers Diana’s favourite flower included in her bouquet among those hand-picked by Prince Harry, the sprig myrtle as per tradition. Later, the Duchess of Sussex bouquet was later laid at the tomb of the Unknown Soldier at the west nave of Westminster Abbey as per Royal Tradition.



7. The royal etiquette signed off by Her Majesty the Queen demands not; long fake nails, short hemlines above the knee and dark nail polish which was strictly observed by the invited guests. Pink pastels, blue hues and vibrant colours of elegant seamless designer couture and fascinators were the order for the day.

8. The Duchess of Sussex asked her yet-to-be father-in-law to walk her down the aisle following the events that confusion prior to the wedding until the last minute when Thomas Markle her paternal father absence was confirmed at his daughter’s big day.


9. Two receptions were held after the exchange of the nuptials: Hosted by The Queen at Windsor Castle for the 600 guests invited to the wedding and a more intimate one with 200 guests hosted by Prince Charles at Frogmore House.



10. The couple is yet to go for their #RoyalHoneymoon. Could you guess where?
